Many people mistakenly believe that calligraphy and handwriting are the same, yet they are not. Calligraphy, in general, consists of stylized, ornamented letters – it’s more art than writing. On the other hand, handwriting relates to the style and method with which you scribble notes today. Handwriting must be more practical and faster than calligraphy.
While everyone’s handwriting style is unique, there’s always space for development! You’ll find eight ideas to help you improve your handwriting in this post.
1. Use a Nice Pen
The word “lovely” is subjective, so you’ll have to look for the right pen for you! The Pilot G2 05 is my go-to pen for everyday writing because of the wide stroke width, comfortable grip, and jet black ink. I like how responsive it is; I don’t have to apply pressure to have constant ink flow.
I encourage you to shop around because thousands of pens are on the market. Please pick up a pen now and then and try it out! It doesn’t matter whether you prefer gel pens, fountain pens, or ballpoint pens; whatever you choose is ideal.
2. Maintain a Relaxed Grip
One of the most important things you can do to enhance your handwriting is to have a good, comfortable grasp. When you have a “relaxed grip,” none of your hand muscles are unduly flexed, and your fingernails aren’t white from gripping the pen’s barrel.
Many people grip the pen tightly, resulting in a sore hand after a few minutes of writing. We frequently clutch without realizing it, so check yourself every few minutes to make sure you’re still holding the pen gently.
3. Start with Drills
It’s tough to produce excellent letters without warming up, whether you’re writing in cursive or type. A few basic workouts will help you write clear and confident characters. 4. Experiment with Paper Rotations
As youngsters, we are taught to maintain our documents in a vertical position in front of us. That’s fantastic if it works for you. If not, you can play around with alternative paper rotations. Maintaining a specific angle for your paper might go a long way toward improving your handwriting!
The typical vertical paper position is suitable for most right-handed folks. But I’m not one of them. When my paper is rotated 90 degrees, I find it easier to write — especially in cursive, which is my preferred writing technique. You may see for yourself by watching this brief video!
Because paper rotation is a personal preference, I invite you to experiment with various angles. Right-handed folks should begin by holding the paper vertically and rotating it to the left until the writing is effortless and comfortable. Left-handed people should start by holding the paper vertically and turning it to the right.
5. Practice with a Worksheet
